Here, really IS a great place to be. So grab an ice cold water, a hot cup of coffee, or maybe even your favorite Shakeology shake, and DIG IN!

First, here's a little about me.

I'm a recovering coke addict(the black liquid kind that comes in a can), I'm also a recovering starch/carb/sugar addict. The 'easier' the breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner were to prepare, the better. Sadly, processed food was synonymous with an easy meal in mind at one time. After 4 children, the last 3 being the triplets, it's safe to say my weight was an issue, as was my health and lifestyle living in the fast and furious world of life with 4 boys, all of which are involved in sports/activities.

And a quick, little bit about my other half, Wade: With each of my pregnancies, he gained baby weight with me, but then never lost it. Leaving him with untreated type 2 diabetes. ..and about 100 lbs overweight. Untreated because he's a stubborn, stubborn man.

Enough about him, back to me. So in my quest to lose weight I starved myself. I tried the raw diet. I tried juicing, which I do still love, but it isn't sustainable for long term lifestyle changes. It is, however a good way to cleanse and detox for short periods and great for the kiddos for fresh juices, in moderation. I tried, shhhh, diet pills. I tried everything. Nothing was working. All the while I was exercising, sadly, blindly and while it was better than nothing, looking back, it almost seems like a waste. I did a lot of running, treadmill, mostly cardio, with a little resistance core work on the machines at the gym.

Having a husband with high blood sugar, and desperate to find a way to make our lifestyles healthier and help him specifically, back to square one I went. Obviously juicing and all raw fruits and veggies weren't going to be the long term answer for me, nor for him since fruits are generally high sugar, and let's face it, juicing greens is okay, but without some sweet fruit mixed in, it's hard to stomach, which equals a quick lived fad diet. Not helpful when you have 100 pounds to lose as he did.

This search led us to look at simple clean eating. Which simply means only eating what God gave us. Makes sense right? We lost weight, we felt better than ever. However, Wade's blood sugar still wasn't where it needed to be. What gives? We cut out everything artificial, including the carcinogenic artificial sweeteners (I won't go into that rant here); his sugar was better, but not within normal range yet.

A side note about us, we don't really take medicine, I haven't been to the doctor since being released after child birth, besides once for an ankle injury... I'm very curious and skeptical about drugs being used to alter our brains natural chemistry. If we all take a step back to nature, remove glutens and toxins from our systems instead of popping a pill for every symptom, I think the world would be a better place; that rant is for another time too. However, with all that being said, if it were my decision, he would've been on meds for this issue, his blood sugar was that high and out of control. all. the. time. Causing bad side effects.

After making the clean eating swap back in March 2012, and reading up on the Paleo and Primal way of eating, it was a very easy transition to drop out some of the starchy carbs that turn to, you guessed it, SUGAR in your system. At the same time we started Shakeology! Shakeology has a very low glycemic index and is packed full of necessary natural nutrients and vitamins, from all whole food derivatives that leave you feeling full and satisfied for a long time along with tons of protein to help you build lean muscle mass. But enough about this superfood from me, you can go look here! There is nothing else like it on the market. Nothing.

If you've been training and hitting the gym and not seeing results, it's your diet. You can not out train your diet. Period.

After only 3 weeks, his sugar was down by 300 points, putting him to almost completely normal range. Yes, I told you it was high.

In conjunction with out diets, we upped the ante with new exercise programs as part of our first 90 day challenge. While diet is a HUGE portion of weight loss and health, don't think you can forgo exercise. And if you're going to take 30 minutes, or 45 minutes, or an hour out of your day to shake your groove thang and sweat out some calories, why not make the most out of that hour and have a professional help you get the results you want and need faster?
